4 Tips for Boosting your Body Image

We all feel like sh*t sometimes, it’s normal. Getting out of those slumps where you hate your body is difficult and a lot of times, it stays engraved in our minds even after we’ve recovered. Here are a few tips I’ve picked up along the way of my self-love journey. They’re not all practical, but they work for me every time I hate looking in the mirror.

1 – Wear your size. I cried when my favorite pair of jeans refused to go past butt, I really did.  I used them for years and subconsciously also used them as a measure to know if I was gaining/losing weight. Once they stopped fitting, I realized I had to make a decision, I’m either going to keep them in my closet forever and hate myself for not being thin enough, or I can donate them and move on. I chose the latter. Not only did I donate them, I bought myself a pair of brand spanking new jeans that fit JUST RIGHT and guess what? They were a size larger than the ones I donated. I know a lot of people refuse to size up because there’s “no way they’re a 14 now”. Not only does this hinder your confidence, you’ll always think of yourself as a number. If we could all buy what makes us feel good, instead of a number, I feel like we’d all be a lot happier with our bodies.

2 – Do hot ass photo shoot. This doesn’t have to be displayed anywhere at all; I promise it’ll have the same effect regardless! Dress up in your favorite lingerie or revealing dress, set up your phone on a few books or a tripod and BOOM start posing! You can do it alone with self-timer or have a friend hype you up (aka me!)! I know I’ve mentioned this on my blog before but I feel like it’s so important to mention how finding your angles can boost your confidence and self-esteem! Visit my blog post to find out where to get the sexiest lingerie in any size!

3 – Pamper yourself. If you feel uncomfortable sitting in a salon chair for hours, try doing your own pampering at home! Do what makes you feel happy; whether that’s doing your hair, makeup, nails, etc. do it to the max! I know that sometimes we tend to hide behind a mask when we’re feeling insecure so if makeup is that ‘mask’ for you, work on your skincare! Do your entire routine and throw in some cucumber eyes while your at it! Going the extra mile for yourself is so important, especially when you feel like you’re not enough.

4 – Dance like no one’s watching. I MEAN IT. Put on your favorite songs and dance your heart out like you did when you were 13! Here’s the link to my favorite playlist to dance to especially when I need a little boost or when I’m getting ready. Dancing isn’t everyone’s *thing* so I get if you feel a bit embarrassed even if it’s just you in the room, but I promise you that jamming out to Lizzo and Bad Bunny as loud as you can is good for the soul <3

Remember that your journey is never linear and it’s okay to feel bad about your body from time to time, I hope these tips help you get through your self-love slump. YOU GOT THIS <3
